7D Availability News (POST ANY AND ALL UPDATES HERE ONLY)

Got my KIT! Woohooooo!!! I got a kit that I didn't even know they were selling- it's the 7D with an 18-135 IS lens, lens hood, extra battery and UV filter for $100 more than the normal kit.

Got it from Pictureline in Draper, UT. YEAH YOU GUYS ROCK!!

So excited. Charging batteries tonight then shooting shooting tomorrow.

They're sold out again, BTW, but man, how did they get a kit I'd never even seen before anybody else seemed to?
 
ARGH!!!! I just got an email from Amazon...I thought "yesssss!" but it was a demand that I approve my pre-order by November 1st or they would cancel it. It seems they are having trouble finding my 7D kit that I pre-ordered 9/1 at 8am. I approved the darn thing but what a cruel cruel blow by Amazon. ;-(

I kinda need to use them cause I have a preferred account with them and they have a 12mo no interest thing. Besides I'm buying 2 and my wife would kill me if she saw that pop up on one of the cards!
 
No problem finding them in Alaska. I went into the camera store today to look at one and give it a test run. They had three different set up - one was just the body $1700 the second one had a lens for around $1900 and then there was a third setup with a better lens for $2,200. I haven't read all the post on here yet - I knew there was just the body and then the kit with lens but didn't know there was a kit with a better lens.
 
Norman camera called me about a extra preorder 7D's but I already have mine.
They currently have four kit models 18-135 lens for $1999 (sat midday 10-3 EST)
Ask for Gavin at 1800.900.6676, please post on thread when they are sold so he is not swamped by calls.

Best Buy just hosed me. If I wasn't first in line for the pre-order, I was definitely second.

Because the item has been on pre-order for so long, my order was flagged and an authorization hold was activated. After 2 hours on the phone with them, it was all resolved. They never explained the problem to me, but that it was fixed.

My order used to say "Item arrives 10/11/09 and will arrive between 10/15 and 10/19". Now all it says is that the item arrives 10/11... no arrival date.

I'm going to raise hell on Monday.

It was some complication between BestBuy.com and HSBC, who deals with the Best Buy credit cards. Not sure if anybody else has had this problem, but I'm royally livid....BAD WORDS.

I think I am buying the last kit right now from Norman Camera... I am gonna have a heart attack if this goes throughh!!! New egg is slowly pulling the rug out from under my and my i have to shoot my best friends weddings!

Right. Mine still says the release in 10/11, but it USED to have a sure-fire arrival date of 10/15 to 10/19. Now it doesn't.

What this probably means is they were getting an allotted amount of 7D's and my pre-order was within their first-batch numbers. Now, I may very well have been kicked to the back of the line.

I'm also a bit worried that by the time they charge my card, their 18 months/no interest financing option will be up...in which case I'll just cancel my order and buy it outright from somewhere out-of-state.
 
Norman Camera (1800.900.6676) just confirmed my purchase and the camera will be sent out monday! Be here Wednesday! I believe there are some more left so hurry and callllll!!
 
I'm in the game.

Walked into Best Buy and they had 2 in back. They were OK with selling early no problem. They could also check by computer to see what other Bestbuys in town had. Easy-breezy.

Whoodathunk two years ago you could just walk into Best Buy and walk out with a camera that has a 1080p picture that rivals Red. Amazing times. I really believe now the playing field is leveled.
 
I ordered the last one today from Norman Camera. It came with the 18-135 lens. He only had that one kit. Ships out Monday.

Glad you all got sorted, Gavin at Norman cameras was very cool to deal with. If I hear of anymore I will post.

Considering the Cine film sensor size, having an 18-135 instead of the 28-135 for the extra $100 seemed like a good idea to me.

There are very few situations where I'm going to want to be wider than an 18mm, and when the need comes up I'll address it at the time.

Yea, I called fully expecting to get just the 7D body, then I ended up impulse buying because he said he was closing shop in 2 minutes. And that Gavin is just such a nice guy, I didn't want to let him down, hah. But I'm actually pretty happy with it because it is the new 18-135 for only 300 extra rather than 500 for the lens by itself.

I'm starting from scratch with lenses so I'm hoping 18-135 is a decent zoom lens and I can get primes later on.

Just got off the phone with the rep who said they did not get their shipment.....and it does not look like they will...I should wait till 5 tomorrow then cancel my order.. I just sold my J&R Body to a friend that is shooting a Music Video..Expecting to get my other one in a day or 2!!!!
