I ordered from J&R at 9:30 am and then got a confirmation by email. I called later in the day to ask if I could do overnight shipping they said yes, then I asked about 2 day shipping and was told after a minute or so that they were on back order. If it is because of the overnight shipping that is still bad business. Obviously people who ordered many hours after me are getting shipments.

Regardless or not if people get their orders this place is a pain to deal with. If J&R was the last camera place on earth I would rather go without a camera rather than deal with them again.

I preordered 2 days after it was announced, so maybe almost a month ago, saw bunch post yesterday about JR having stock and you guys got it ordered, so I call them and they said not in stock, expect mid October, I got nothing but lies from them, so I cancel the order and got it at ABT and will get mine tomorrow, I was doing that free shipping with them and so probably why I got screwed, never mess with them again.
 
Abe's of Maine shipped today. I've got the tracking number! Whoohoo!

All of you that got in on that goodness can thank me by sending Canon L glass to my home address. Thank you and have a nice day!

I expect you ordered the kit lens?

It seems Canon has delivered bodies first to major stores. I'm in a similar situation - I won't be getting my kit until at least Oct. 10.
 
It's totally screwy. J&R must be prioritizing their overnight shipments. I was one of the last to order from them and I'm getting it tomorrow. Hopefully it's not an empty box labeled 7D.
 
You will also notice earlier in this thread that the people who ordered several other accessories were the first to get shipping notices, LOL!

The place I ordered from though is very close so I basically got overnight shipping for free, it will be delivered early tomorrow.

I ordered my last night at 12:00 A.M. This morning I noticed that my order was still pending yet everyone on here was purchasing their 7D's and the stock was going down, down.

I got pro-active. I called as soon as they opened and one lady told me that the order was there but coming from the web it would have to wait till it processed and she would do something about it. As soon as I hung up I called again and got a different lady. She told me that she could see the order placed but it still was not being processed and to wait. AS SOON as I hung up I called again...everytime I got a different story. I kept on calling AND calling AND calling AND calling.

So at the end I got the story straight....PHONE sales takes precedent over web sales...why? It seems that by the time the orders are processes from the web, the stock might already be out because there is no tie from the inventory to the web sales. Over and over salesmen told me to call first over web. I called and called and called. Finally I got one of the salesman to physically go get my order and process it....I told him I needed to purchase a couple of batteries and a slew of other peripherals. I did need them. I guess this made the sale tangeable? Who knows. At the end after probably over 45+ calls starting at 9:00 A.M. and ending at 2:30 P.M. I got my camera to ship...one of the last ones.

Got the tracking number, and it is verified by UPS...in two days it arrives.

The lesson? If you really want it....call, call, call OH AND BE pleasant. At all times I complimented their job and told them I understood it was not their personal fault but they needed to help me. Sometimes charm will take you along way...it helped me!

No I think the lesson is don't order from J&R again unless you want a protracted hassle or you are prepared to pay them off with extra purchases. If they had just processed my order I probably would have gone back to them for other things like lenses that I needed since I am just getting into the dslr thing. There is so much I need to purchase to compliment this camera over the next few months and they lost out on all of it. So its Service Photo and B&H for now on for all my business.
 
So I get an email from Amazon regarding my 7D order and I get all excited thinking it may be a shipping notification, then I read the email and my jaw dropped:

WTF Amazon???!!! I ordered the camera about an hour after it was announced on 8/31 and this is the first time that I have heard from them since then. Not very encouraging. I am hoping this is just Amazon's way of clearing out pre-orders that others may no longer want.

I seem to remember getting this same e-mail when I pre-ordered a PS3 from Amazon back at the height of their popularity, and the e-mail was exactly that.

I was also an 8/31 pre-order of the kit lens and this is the first I've heard - to my knowledge no one has received an order with the kit lens (only bodies) from Amazon or any other distributer. They're being released a little bit later (I've seen a lot of dates). This happened with the 5DMKII as well.

I wouldn't worry about it!

Does anyone know how long after the Body Only of the 5D was released that the kit finally shipped? That may give at least an idea of how long we can sit comfy and wait for the kit. I ordered a kit from J&R around the 15th - looking forward to when kits start shipping.
 
Well, been 24 hrs, and no charges on my visa or shipping notice from J&R, starting to worry. Ordered body only.

Me too. I ordered yesterday at 10am and was told by a guy called Everett that it would ship out yesterday afternoon and arrive by Friday (two-day shipping). I received no shipping notice so I called them just now. A woman told me they upgraded me to overnight shipping so it didn't need to go out until today. She kept saying I had been upgraded from 2-day shipping to overnight at no extra charge.

Basically they still haven't shipped it and it is in "credit review process". So, I don't know if they are scammers, but they definitely lied to me at least once.
