Quick test we did on a dim afternoon to test viability of the mount for our Mizuno client.

Quick test from yesterday for a validation for a sports client:
Here's the footage:

some details:

-gyro mount only takes about 20 minutes to setup
-shot with a Canon 7D
-edited and graded in FCP and After Effects in about an hour
-total shoot time ~ 1 hour
-top speed ~ 60 mph
-motorcycle driver: Mike The Intern From Upstairs

Awesome footage, some of my favorite DSLR shots I've seen.

Could you get a similar look if you found a way to attach a glidecam pro to the back of a vehicle?

potentially. The advantage to gyros is that they are powered and provide plenty of resistance to outside forces.

Example: car hits a curve. A gyro acts against that force and attempts to stay horizontal. A steadicam can do that do a degree but also relies heavily on the operator to counteract the force.

I love the outcome of this, editing is very nice and I love how the sun hits the camera.
Did you use a 70-200 lens as well? That's what it looked like? I ask because I would love to attempt at making something like this, and I own a 70-200 so I think that would help.

yes, for alot of the close up stuff we shot between 70-200 f8-2.8. Using the gyro is considerably more difficult with long lenses (especially around curves where it wanders around) but its doable if you practice and plane.

Haha, well I don't think I can get a gyro where I am located, but I do want to give a shot at making a video like this, I am apart of a big sport motorcycle forum so we go out a lot, so this would definitely look sweet.
Thanks for the reply mate.

You'd be suprised! Aerial Exposures seems to have a few locations. They certainly shipped it to us quickly, and we're in the blue ridge mountains.
