7D and glidecam 2000

I just picked up a glidecam 2000 pro second hand off ebay and have been messing around a little with it. So far I love it! And figured I should post on here incase anyone was considering the glidecam but not sure, as I was in that position for a long time. It was definitely worth the $200 it cost me.

Here is some test footage:

this is really reassuring footage! how did it take you to learn how to balance the 2000 pro since it was your first time? also, what aperture were you shooting at generally to keep your subjects mainly in focus?

I'd like to know more about the difference between the HD and the PRO. The price difference is... signifiacant. To say the least!

Great work!! Love the shot at 1:24!!

I would also love to know how long it took you to get the hang of the Glidecam and what aperture you shot at to keep your subjects in focus?

Keep up the good work mate, thanks for sharing!!

Thanks for sharing - very well done. I recently rebalanced my Glidecam 4000 Pro from my Canon XL-2 to the 7D - so nice to get rid of almost all the counterbalance weights!

BTW, watching the video I had an idea for an ironic ending. At minute two your footage of the pupster has some awesome yet a bit eery shots of the dogs eyes - they are totally mesmerizing. If you're into After Effects compositing of could get some help, you could have a striking ending by doing a close up of the gorgous brunette with eyes that have transformed to the same color as her dogs - would really make for a strong ending with a powerful message.

Thanks again for sharing!

Thanks for all the input guys! This was my first time ever working with any sort of stabilizer. Balancing it was a little tough and probably took me 30min to balance it the first time, after that it has gotten easier and easier.

For the most part I think I was shooting at like f11 but brought it down toward the end, it was really tough keeping her in focus while shooting at 70mm.

The difference between the Pro and HD, from what I hear, are very small and the main thing is that the HD series is a bit easier to balance. Wasnt worth that price difference to me.

That is a good idea! And yeah, I might do that when I get a little time soon! I love that idea.

I use an HD 4000 for my 7D. It works great. I've learned that it's best to do all the Glidecam shots together whenever possible cuz rebalancing every time is a pain.

A lot of people complain about getting the balance right on these things, why is getting it to balance so difficult? Does it come with good instructions on balancing?

Using this with the 7D in daylight how did you view your image, straight off the LCD? I mean if you were going in and out of focus at 70mm was that easy to see while you were shooting or something you noticed during editing?

Your test looked great, nice footage.

It is somewhat difficult to balance, but yeah there are instructions for it.

Yeah I was viewing straight off the LCD, I did have a lot of trouble keeping her in focus, which is why I tried to shoot a high large DOF for all these.
