I have to agree with this. Both of the huge images in this thread do not look like HD.
Frame size specs from the Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI):
4k container = 4096 x 2160
4k 2.39:1 = 4096 x 1714
4k 1.85:1 = 3996 x 2160
2k container = 2048 x 1080
2k 2.39:1 = 2048 x 858
2k 1.85:1 = 1998 x 1080
In digital cinema, what's the format used for projecting? MKV? MXF? MOV? I'm intrigued?
What compressor?
Briefly, the specification calls for picture encoding using the ISO/IEC 15444-1 "JPEG2000" (.jp2) standard and use of the CIE XYZ color space at 12 bits per component encoded with a 2.6 gamma applied at projection, and audio using the "Broadcast Wave" (.wav) format at 24 bits and 48 kHz or 96 kHz sampling, controlled by an XML-format Composition Playlist, into an MXF-compliant file at a maximum data rate of 250 Mbit/s.
agreed, that looks superb.
guys, wtf is the point of all of this. its a sub 2k camera that George has "okay'd"
As previously stated, you have the tools, now if this isn't good enough, then it's not the camera holding you back![]()

I need a 1/3" sensor so I can keep my kids in focus.....they keep hassling me for shooting them at 30fps. "Papa we don't look filmic"
Both of the huge images in this thread do not look like HD. Maybe with some unsharp mask magic they can look better, but as of now they make me search for the glasses. Obviously, everything can be projected, I've seen movies that were more blurry than these stills.
