since i am new to this over and under cranking so i thought id try i out now - i git the slow motion going however there is no sound - is this the norm - so i would guess if u are to shot that way when editing u need some sort of audio voice over or music/sound affects or something for that blanked out part. or am i missing something that is causng me not to get audio?

Ya, it is normal for no sound to be recorded when doing anything with playing with the Vari Frame Rates.
If I am right, you can record 720p/60p and which will record the audio, then put into a 24p timeline , however the audio will never match you can atleast attempt to use some of it, IF NEEDED. Like I said I dont know if this is completely accurate, but it sure sounds right
