720P vs 720 P/N

I just shot with 720 P/N and I'm unable import the footage into Final Cut, but when I shoot with 720P I'm able to load and edit the footage in Final Cut. I'm using version 5.1. Is there something I can do to view and edit footage shot in 720P/N in Final Cut?
 
How are you attempting to import the 24pn?

What preset and workflow are you following?

What is the issue when you attempt to import the p2 volume
 
I have never had a problem with FCP 5.1.4 and 720pn (works both with the log and transfer as well as using raylight). Can you describe the symptoms more? Can you answer David's questions?

If you are importing PN footage make sure that the option to remove the duplicate frames is not checked.
 
All I'm trying to do is just view the footage that has been shot on the p2 card from my labtop. Isn't there a way to do that? I thought I could by using FCP 5.1. All I'm doing is I'm popping in the card into my powerbook and then drag the files into a portable hard drive. I then just click on the .mxf video file and try to play it but it says I don't have the application to view it.

Yes it is footage shot in 24 P/N
