720p resolution problems, need help

We are currently trying to meet the standards of a stockfootage company we are entering into a contract with. One of the requirements for the 720p footage we submit is that its resolution meet the standard of 1280 x 720. Since the HVX200 only has the resolution of 960 x 720, what is the best way to get it to 1280x720. Since, we are on Final Cut Pro, my first thought is to render the footage on a 1280 x 720 square pixel timeline and then output from that to achieve the proper resolution. Will this method achieve the best results?

Thanks,

PS - Why would panasonic push this resolution of 960 x 720 when no broadcasters seem to use that? The HD world is completely new to us, so any info is totally appreciated.

If rendering out of Final Cut Pro, use compressor and change the frame size in the settings window to 1280x720 and render out that way.

I think the majority of pro-sumer HD cameras shoot at lower than 1280x720 and then anamorphically stretch the footage to that size.

Why use Compressor?

Render QT Conversion and elect the DVCProHD 720 preset with the frame rate you wish.
