720p/24 and drop frames

I have just finishing shooting with the HVX. I shot 720p/24p on a FS-100 hard drive. I imported all the footage into FCP. That went well but every time I put a cross dissolve in between edits the drop frame window pops up. It also happens whenever I render a clip. I was wondering how do I fix this problem.
 
What are you using as a media drive on what computer with how much RAM and with what versions of OS and FCP?

I asked what media drive you are using.

And what computer you are using.

That is what usually leads to dropped frames.
 
Is it the drive you have your applications installed on?

Is it a separate internal drive?

Is it an external Firewire or USB2 drive?

Capturing and editing to the boot drive is the likely cause of your dropped frames.

It is not a best practice.

Get a dedicated, second internal hard drive and use that exclusively to capture and edit to and from.
