CHRIST i'm going crazy. Can't find setting to turn off auto ISO in 720p (japanese). Ticked/unticked most things in edit: *everything*... can anyone check which of the 3 main menus it's under?

Manual not helping, even tried google translate japanese->english and tried stuff like "auto iso" etc trying to find the characters in the menus... LOL. Halp!!

My GH2 was made in china but your question does not make sense to me,720P is the same as the other frame rates on mine,it just needs the ISO button pressed and the required ISO setting set.

(I hope this man does not offend anyone. I did not mean to be mean to OP, but rather to congratulate myself for a stellar performance. if it turns out I am wrong in my solution, then I shall look upon his clapping holyness and feel naught but shame)

solution:
P-mode (for Program or Panic) is a mostly auto mode, and you cannot change exposure mode while in P.
Switch to M (manual), A (Aperture Priority), S (shutter priority), or preferably the M with a little movie icon next to it and you will be able to change exposure mode in the menu.

Let me know if I am correct or if I have made an ass of myself.

I always thought P meant Program as more options than manual...

No difference in M, S. Selecting ISO doesn't matter. It's still auto.

AVCHD settings drop-down menu is greyed out in creative movie mode.

???

....should point that that I've previously owned both GH2 & GH1, so... but apparently i'm missing something basic..... blaming the japanese.... must be some "auto iso" thing in some menu....... and no i highly doubt that i got a pre-production unit or something like that.... just missing something

edit: i mean the iso doesn't even change when changing it, it's stuck on some auto BS in the menu somewhere. but ONLY in 720p

right, my bad.. it seems you have to be in the creative movie mode to change the exposure mode in the menu. It is greyed out if you are in M, S, A or P, and even at M exposure in M mode (weirdly enough), ISO is AUTO... so turn your dial to creative movie mode, hit menu, down to 'motion picture', then exposure mode to manual or whatever; only solution I can see (and this should work) is to stick to Creative Movie Mode, and make sure exposure is set to M. Which setting is greyed out?

Oh darn i nearly said you are in creative movie mode but assumed he was ,at least you have solved the great mystery good.

REC MODE is greyed out in movie mode... REC QUALITY only 24h/24l unless i go into Manual, but then the iso goes auto...

Went through all Exposure Modes and yes the letter changes , BUT it's still auto...

:(

edit: OK think i figured it out now. I choosed the icon beside "Cinema" in first menu, before this gave 30p, but figures I had to first choose 720p in Manual dail, then now it's 720p in that camera icon with rolling film wheels... lol... seriously, no readable text here, just icons :)

I GUESS you either could go "stupid japanese" or "stupid consumer", aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh i'll just be quiet now

hah, talk about language barriers.. Don't think I would have handled navigating by icons alone before getting to know the camera. sounds like you've got it right now. for 720 you have to go to the icon on the left of the 'cinema' (called manual movie mode or something) in the menu (as you said), while the one to the right is variable movie mode I think, which has the 80% (30p), 160% and 300% modes.
