700d vs 550d

I have a couple of 550d cameras that I use with ML for video. Thinking of getting a 700d as it has 30 minute recording time, but is there a glitch when you add the 4GB movie files onto the timeline one after another?

but it can't record continuously more than 29 minutes (like all Canon cameras),

The difference from 550D, is that your 550D will record only 4 GBs files (about 12 minutes) and then stop, but this one will start another 4GB file right after it (no glitch), and will keep starting new clips until it reaches 29 minutes.

So 550D=12mins 700D=29mins

With the 550D with Magic Lantern installed on it, you can turn on the "Movie Restart" feature, but there's a couple frame that will miss between the stop and restart.
I don't use it, as I mostly shoot short films (scenes and no long-takes).
You can always "bypass" that 4GB limit (which is roughly 12mins) by adjusting the bitrate (by lowering it) and then, your 4GB limit will be longer than 12mins in time. This won't stop and restart but record longer time straight in one video with a lower bitrate (which will requires less space on the card), until it reach 4GB.

I used to do that on live events with a 550D- having multiple cameras (at least 2) started about a minute or two apart from each other with ML's auto restart on. The idea would be that I could cover up the 2-3 second gap between auto-restarted clips with the other angle, as at least one camera would always be running. Worked pretty well, albeit a silly workaround for a rather annoying problem. Buying a second 550D is cheaper than a 700D, and opens up all kind of additional options as well (having more than one angle is useful in many situations, as is just having another body with a different lens ready to go so you don't have to switch).

Nowadays I just use Panasonic GH cams when doing long recordings, as they record like camcorders when you need it (no limits). Lots of options these days!
