I am sure I would have seen it posted here but we are due, perhaps Canon will grace us with a 4K C100 MKIII as an NAB present? Been trying to think through how Canon could release a 4k C100 MKIII without siphoning sales from the C300 MKII?
1. 4K but a much less robust, smaller codec implementation maxing at 150 Mbps?
2. Skip the 1080/2K 12 bit 4:4:4?
3. Keep HDMI only?
4. If they kept the data rate down, they could stick with SDXC/SDHC (ala Panasonic DVX200) rather than switch to Cfast but the XC-10/15 use CFast, don't they?
5. They could blow everyone away by changing the EOS Cinema body shape of the whole line to the C700 form factor. How cool would a Mini C700 form factor C100 MKIII be? Then evolve over the C300 MKIII when it comes out. They won't, but it would be uber cool if we could get away from the super tall and short form factor and go back to the longer and lower form factor like the C700. Stick the EVF where it belongs, on the side up near the lens with a built in soft shoulder pad like the C700. One can dream, can't they?
6. Keep the price point at it's usual $6k? Or up it to $8k to protect C300 MKII sales?
What are your hopes, wishes, aspirations (be at least semi realistic, they aren't incluidng 120FPS 4K or multiple SDI outs) for a C100 MKIII and do you think Canon will drop it at NAB? You'd think we would have heard some rumblings about prototypes out there or chatter from the rumor sites? Maybe there is no C100 MKIII yet, who knows?
