Everyone read the comments in this flick thread. This guy says he has the Olympus (not panasonic) counterpart to the 7-14mm (which is a few hundred more) and says that if you disable connection between the lens/camera, that the 7mm end is actually 2.8 (olympus cripples the wide end to maintain a constant aperture of 4.0, but is built as a 2.8-4.0 zoom).

Damn what a find. Anyone try this hack on the GH2?

Anyone know or can find out if the same is true of the Pansonic 7-14mm?

Wow, what a find! Would be interesting as how many lenses can open up more than is written on them?

I still don't get it why Olympus is doing this - I mean, if you want a constant aperture dial F4.0 an all is fine, but limiting a lens like this is just stupid.

I wonder if my 14-35mm F2.0 can open up more at 14mm....that would be crazy ;-)

I have the 7-14 panasonic so I'll give this a try. If this is true and works.. man that would be aweosome,

not at all sure about GH2, but certainly this works on Olympus SLRs
all you do is press the lens release button, pretty simple
