7-14mm and anamorphic adapter

Hi,

I've just invested in a 7-14mm lens and I was planning to buy an anamorphic adapter later on.

Because of that I'm thinking if it was a smart move! The 7-14 doesn't have a filter thread so it is impossible to use any anamorphic adapter like the Panasonic itself right?

you could do what i did...

when i use the 14-140 kit lens cant go below 18mm or the edges of the LA7200 come into view, i'm thinking the 7-14mm will not work with the LA7200 for this reason.

Yes, indeed! Anamorphic adapters have their limits. I used to work with them in my film days. You're 18mm limit (36mm equivalent) is actually excellent performance.

But to expect an anamorphic adapter to work at 7mm... well, ain't gonna happen.

At 7mm that lens has such crazy wide FOV that you probably wouldn't miss the top and bottom if you had to crop it to anamorphic to match other shots. You're not gonna get or want to get much in the way shallow DOF with that lens so no missing the anamorphic bokeh, and you probably want to avoid flaring with that lens so no missing the anamorphic flare. Yes it'd be cool to get the anamorphic adaptor to work with it but it's really really freaking wide already, 118º FOV at 7mm, and I think it would probably match quite nicely.

The Century Anamorphic fit just shy of 35mm (36mm? perhaps) on my 5D. I have to crop the edge just a hair. So a 7-14 will be really cropped even on a gh2. I'd just do what Ben_B said. Cropping the top and bottom will give you a very close look for how wide it will be.
