I am sure it was to get the price point down. The "E" Series are less than half the price of the "A" Series ($2500 v. $1000)

Which brings up an interesting question - what happens when the rewrite cycle "expires" on the E card?
You know what a 1st I believed that but now I'm not sure. It was a great business move. (...) Price point is just a smoke screen. They will make more off of the limited cards over time.
Just don't like them discontinuing such a great product is all.
What happened to B, C and D? Just went straight to E.
No problem there!
As a dealer, I can tell you that once the cheaper E Series cards were released, interest in the A Series cards dropped to almost nothing. B&H had to liquidate their A Series cards at a loss (almost 50%) after the E Series cards started to ship.
