Just finished work on a short film, and I realized that we shot some of our footage in 24PN and some in 24P, which means that the clips I bring into Avid Xpress Pro vary between 23.976 and 59.940 frames per second. Is there any simple way of removing the duplicate frames in my non-native clips? Right now I have one Avid Project for my 24PN clips and one Avid project for my 24P clips (playing at 60fps, with duplicated frames), but of course I need to edit all of it in a single project.

This seems like a problem that would be common with the HVX200, but I couldn't find any useful threads after a good 10 minutes of searching. I also have Adobe After Effects CS3, in case that would help me get the job done.

Thanks.

Good question- not a ton of Avid users here. If there's some sort of reverse telecine option in Avid, that's what you want to use to get the 60 fps footage back down to 24p.

I talked with some people here at the unviersity, and I either need to upgrade to Media Composer to transcode the clips or I need to manually do the pulldown for each one in After Effects.

That'll teach me to pay a bit more attention next time... haha.

Try exporting your avid sequences as quicktime reference movies, import them into after effects, and then render out which ever format you want for your final conform. Experiment.... You can export back to Avid using the DNxHD for great results.... Let us know how you do.....

Thanks very much for that link! I can't wait to try that out! I'll let you know how it goes.
