60i...where is it?

I would like to do some slow motion testing with my DVX100a, and I've been reading that shooting it in 60i at 1/120 shutter speed and slowing it down 40% in fcp would give best my best results. However where is this 60i rate setting? My choices in advance mode are...off, 30p, 24p and 24p (adv). For the life of me i can't find it and it's driving me mad! Please help.........!!!!

Thanks
Rob

Look at the little black thumbwheel on the left-hand side of the back of the camera, next to the battery port. This is the scene file selector. If you have left the camera on factory-settings, then positions F1, F2, F3 and F4 are all 60i. F5 is 24P and F6 is 24PA.

You should see a readout in the lcd or viewfinder that changes with each turn of the thumbwheel; if you see "60i," you're golden. And, you should immediately notice that the look of the lcd image changes noticeably, from beautiful gorgeous filmic progressive, to nasty liney soap-opera-grade interlaced.

If your factory settings have been overwritten, then follow the instructions on page 37 of the manual, to create a scene file with the interlace settings you want.

Actually, in terms of video cameras, it's interlaced that's old and out of fashion.

Actually some clients need interlaced. Working for Science Central news inc, they demand a strict 60i @ 1/60th a second shutter, with NDF timecode.

any deviation and they cant use the footage. granted i like 24p, but you shoot what the people paying you want.

Heh, I just did a shoot for SciCentral too. ... That was fun, tracking down a 60i (NTSC) camera over here. We ended up having to buy a, eh, "multisystem camera" :lipsrseal

Sure, we deliver what the client pays for.

I was mostly joking about the subjective beauty of the one, vs the objective nasty-ass ugliness of the other.

I filmed some rugby games and chose to go interlaced, mainly because I didn't want to have to deal with manual focus, but I also assumed that having more frames couldn't hurt.

Here's what I am trying to do: capture the impact of a golf club to the ball in super slo mo. Any ideas? I have followed these instructions and still can not locate 60i...I have 30p but no 60i. Do I need to locate and/or change interlacing first...and how the heck do I do that? Thanks.
