60D with Contax Zeiss 50mm

I've always liked the Zeiss look (I still have three Contax bodies lying around but not used since the convenience of digital got hold of me), and have the same lens as you. I got a cheap EOS adapter two years ago but never did much after a few brief lens tests. Seeing your film makes me want to try that lens again. Thanks for posting your work.

Thanks True.... I really like the Zeiss look too but the new ones are tough for me to justify. I used the cheap $10 adapter and it works great. This was really just a test of how it works with about a 40 watt incandescent in an otherwise unlit room. We put some gelled lights outside the backdoor to light that as they came in. I'm pretty sure I'll be adding another contax to my kit in the next few weeks.

That lens looks clean for sure. Got me interested.

A side note: Don't know if this is your final setup but you may want to provide a little more soft light directly on the subjects.. I was distracted by the eye socket shadows. Hanging a low watt bulb in the middle of that table setup may be the look your are going for.

Thanks for the feedback. The raccoon eyes were definitely not the desired look but it was just shot as a test to see what the lens could do in low light. It's interesting that I didn't notice it while we were shooting it but certainly noticed it as soon as we got to edit. It's something I'll definitely watch for in the future. I bought this one to replace the Canon 50mm 1.8. It was a nice replacement for not much more in cost.
