60D Native ISO?

Some people will tell you 100, 200, 400, 800 etc.

Others will tell you 160, 320, 640, 1250 etc.

Do you have one? If so you can easily do your own tests with your own camera by recording the same scene at all the iso settings and look at the noise - because low noise is what you are looking for - right?

I have a 7D and a 60D. 7D got damaged (got these purple dots appearing all over my shots, think I need to get the sensor replaced?) and I have borrowed my friends 60D. I know the 7D's native ISOs are 160, 320, 640, 1250, 2500, 5000 (according to Shane Hurlbut). If the 60D has the same sensor, then I guess it'd be the same, right?

Thank you for the reply :)

Depends what you mean by Native ISO precisely. Do you mean the highest ISO you can go to before seeing disagreeable grain? That's kinda something you need to determine for yourself. My idea of livable grain may be way beyond yours and vice versa.

I don't think the 60D uses exposure compensation - all ISOs are native. Even if this is not the case, you can't possibly see the difference. I did a few test shots (lens cap on- video and stills) shortly after I got the camera, and grain wasn't noticeable until 3200 - even then you had to look for it. Might have got more grain with color charts, but if you are seeing purple dots at 800 there is something seriously wrong.
