Hi all,

i have read the list already, i am looking for manual lenses for my 60d.

mainly looking at some carl zeiss jena's and olympus.

However i dont know what models are good. etc

Olympus seem to have the zuiko lenses and other models. i dont know much about how good manual lenses are etc.

any recommendations? i currently own just a 50mm ef 1.8 lens and a m42 adapter.

need lenses for m42 too. Need some advice hellllllllllllllllllp

Thanks

I have tested quite a few Carl Zeiss Jena models:
http://www.similaar.com/foto/lenstests/lenstestsa.html

* flektogon 35mm f/2.8: horrible, maybe my copy was bad, but awfull, really
* pancolar 50mm f/1.8: awesome, one of my favorite lenses
* biometar 80mm f/2.8: mediocre
* sonnar 135mm f/4.0: nice but slow
* sonnar 180mm f/2.8: awesome, but haven't tried it against the One Dollar Resolution Chart yet
* sonnar 300mm f/4.0: awesome, but extremely big and heavy (without the hood, 24cm long and 2400g), plus haven't tried it against the One Dollar Resolution Chart yet

my plan is to keep the pancolar 50 and the sonnar 180 (plus the 300mm but only because eventually I want to move to fullframe), plus leitz glass for 35, 90 and 135, and a modern fast zoom for wide angle

I'm nearly there already, just need to get the leitz 135 and sell the jena, get some lovely 5D3 without aliasing and moire, then get tokina 16-28, then file for bankrupcy

haha sounds good. Thanks for the advice.

Any other lenses to go for? olympus? any m42 threaded mounts?

Thanks

There's a whole section here for lens discussion (improperly labeled "7D lenses", but really for all EOS APS-C mounts), and in fact a whole thread just on this topic. Lots of great info there, including lists of compatible mount types, if you want to know more.
