60D Hood

I made this hood last year for my 550D for about $5 bucks mounted on a plate behind the camera. Yesterday I realized it was light enough to mount on the articulating view screen. Weight is about 50gr. from 3mm plywood. Not the prettiest hood, but works well. I'll be looking for black rubber bands.

nice! Did you model this after any of the instructions on YouTube?

My background is industrial design so I design a lot of my own support gear as I need it. This one is quite simple made from 3mm plywood and a standard loupe. I posted the construction last year, here is the link.

The eye cup is a piece of neoprene cut into a simple shape and wrapped around the plastic loupe back lens cover. I'll shoot a picture of the shape which is useful to make eye cups to go around just about anything.

Black hair bands.

They may be a bit too tight. The standard ones are very secure even though cheap. I'm worried a stronger rubber band may damage the view screen hinge if I slip when stretching it on or off.
