Hi all

really need to pick your brains :)

i am after a intervolmeter (remote timer for my 60d)

i have found this which has had good reviews for a third party model

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Timer-Remot...?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1304944973&sr=1-23

is this any good?

also I am after a monitor i have been offered the Lilliput 669gl HDMI for 100 GBP. which to me is a great buy with sunshade and battery.

what do people think?

Finally *deep breath*

i am after some more batteries for my 60d. I am looking at third party ones off ebay, do i have to buy a separate charger? are they good and reliable?

Sorry for so many questions, saves me making loads of different threads

regards :)

Hello,
The intervalometer will work just fine with your 60D...
About the batteries, I d suggest that you ll buy from a seller who states that the batteries are fully compatible with original charger and show battery power info on camera.
The ones I have, require a seperate charger and dont show any info and that is making me nervous!
About the monitor I dont know as I dont use one...sorry...

i now have a remote time (intervalometer)

Question: how are third party batteries reliable?

and also what is the best cheapest LCD viewfinder for the 60d.

Money money money

:)

I have the 60D and I got an off-off brand battery grip (meiki) for when I'm doing photography stuff. The grip came w/ two batteries, one of which doesn't work...
I'd be weary of this brand of battery, but B&H sells an 'off brand', ie not canon, battery by pearstone which shouldn't be a problem.

Budget-minded here as well. Some nice tutorials on YouTube on DIY LCD viewfinders for around 5 bucks. They get the job done, unless you wear eyeglasses. EOS utility outputs to computers and can be rigged to output to a iphone/ipod/ipad.

I looked into non-Canon batteries, battery grips, and power supplies for the 60d and the negative reviews don't sit well with me. I'm going to skimp on a lot but will go with genuine Canon batteries, power supply, and battery grips to play it safe.

Viewfinder can be done the DIY route. Monitor-wise I've read some interesting posts about people using portable DVD players with HDMI inputs. 100 GBP seems like a good deal for the Liliput + sunshade + battery. DIY would save you no more than 50% on the monitor. Resell the Lillyput!!!
