5D MKIII specs

Thanks for doing that. Although not entirely scientific it's still the best of a res chart I've seen. About your comment of resolving "over 850 lines", I said this a week ago without even shooting a res chart. You just kinda confirm it.

I don't know if those two shots were done on separate days (so different lighting and cloud conditions), however, the shot with the AA-filter removed seems to show more DR too?

canon has two aa filters but one is part of dust filter ....
this is only one removed ...
half job , but it does give more resolution ...
good work

This may sound stupid, but I wonder if this can be removed by Canon at a repair centre if requested by the customer and still retain warranty? What do you guys think?

Can someone do me a favor and film me two quick clips with the 5D III? No in-camera sharpening, neutral settings, lowest contrast, and -2 saturation. I would like the raw clips. I have some tests I want to do.

-A deep DOF shot, wide angle shot of scenery, preferably outside.

-A portrait of a person, shoulders-up with blurred out background.

Thanks.

Also, removing that AA filter is very interesting.

From my informal res chart comparing a downsampled still to video, I estimated 800-900 lines of horizontal resolution. I estimate ~890 lines from Jason's test. Looks like 3 sources pointing to similar results.

Could this be an April Fools Joke. A well timed one, and one that also proves a great point about the effectiveness of sharpening.

However, that's just a guess.

Edit; NEVERMIND. He took pictures of the tear down process.

Hey, it is really close to April Fools.

But, if it is true then it's pretty crazy. if not, still, great illustration.

its nothing new ...
people remove aa filter for some time ...
mostly to get more resolution for photos ...
but this is first time it is done for canon video....
