5D MkII & HV20 Mountain Bike Video

There were some shots that juddered a bit when you were panning, although I think you'd notice it less if you cut them so you were already panning. There was an awkward zoom near the beginning that would've looked better done in post.
I did enjoy it though, really nice! I think some quicker cuts to give it more energy, and maybe some close up action would make it look even better

Very nice work, great camera work and editing. I assume you used the HV20 60i slowdown for the slomo shots?

I liked a lot of your shots. Think the edits could be tightened. Instead of showing the shot in fast and slow why not cut half way through to the slow? Also there were a few shots a tad too long and some again where the start of the shot had nothing for about 1/2 a second then the bikes would fly through, cut to where the bikes actually hit the shot. Just a few thoughts. I think youve got enough material that is solid, just per above tighten it up.

How are you pulling focus? Seems you have some shake when doing so.

Thank you for your input. Yeah we could have tightened up the editing a bit but we were trying to keep it going with the beat. I hate that zoom too haha, first time using a dlsr for video so I'm not that smooth yet.

Yup that was the HV20's only function that day.

The editing was a bit loose I agree. The video was running a bit short so that's why we didn't cut to other shots where we could have. We had a few shot where there was no action for a bit because we tried to cut with the beat and for the sounds of the bikes when you couldn't see them yet.

We were just pulling focus manually and it was our first time ever using a dslr for video. Some more practice would have definitely helped but we didn't have any time. We borrowed the 5D from a friend the night before shooting. I really wish we had some more time to play around with it. It's such a wicked camera!
