5D/7D for a CG commercial

I'm shooting a commercial in a couple weeks which will have a lot of CG animation (robot arm comes to life and wreaks havoc). I'd like to use the 5DmkII or the 7D, but I can't seem to find anyone who has used either of these cameras in a similar application.

Basically I would like to find out if the codec can stand up to the post process.

Please let me know if there is another thread that covered any similar topic, if you know of one. Thanks much.

I just finished a project and we had some shots from the 5dMkII. As I understand your question you'd be using the footage from this camera as principle photography. If so I'm not sure I understand your concern.

If you were shooting the robot arm green screen with one of these cameras then you should do some testing but since I believe your using it for the backplate this shouldn't be any different than any other principle photography.

The clips from the 5DMkII are H.264 so you'll need to take into Compressor (or a PC equivalent) and convert it to what ever codec your editing with.
