550d ML audio monitoring for 30 cents

Can someone please elaborate and clarify? I don't own a 550D but I am considering buying one soon instead of the 60D becuase ML has improved the functionality of the 550D. What audio monitoring options are there with the 550D when using ML? Can you monitor audio via the AV out and if so, does the LCD go black? or is the Audio monitoring from the USB out? With the frrequent ML udates, this is very unclear. Thanks!
 
The LCD does not go black and you monitor using the AV/usb out. You use the canon provided AV/usb cable and then hook it to headphones. Then on the top of the screen in the LCD you will see the audio levels.
 
They are working on the 60D hack, so if you have time to wait, I would say put off buying a camera.
If you need a camera asap and want all the hacks asap, then get the 550d.
I own the 550d, and I wont upgrade to the 60d as I'd just be throwing away money for a flip out lcd. But if I were to buy a camera right now with out having one, it would most likely be the 60d just because its newer and has a few extra hardware features.
So just something to think about.
