550d batteries dying quickly in battery grip

I've found that with my 550d with a battery grip, with both batteries in it it will die in under and hour of filming. This doesn't seem right at all and it's real frustrating. I didn't have my rechargable batteries with me today, so I brought 6 double A's for the battery grip. A low battery signal showed up after about a half hour... this doesn't seem right, have I set something wrong or something? It's this battery grip. http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Digit...2OFO/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1300073664&sr=8-5 . Thanks

3rd party battery grip + batteries might be the cause of this, Might. From my experience 3rd party gear from my experience is not as good as Canon.

I bought that same grip back when they were $75 and one of the two batteries that came with it was impossible to charge.

In the last year I've just used the grip with the T2i's original battery and the one included with the grip that will hold a charge and it hasn't been any problem for me, I just came back from Vegas and walked the Strip up and down all day shooting stills and video with no serious loss of battery power.

What I found with the bad battery is that it will show a completed charge cycle in under a couple of minutes on the charger, but it won't last in the camera more than a minute or so.

I imagine quality control amongst the batteries isn't job 1.

Other than the one bad battery, I love the grip, the rubber portions are attached to it better than the ones on my camera.

Can't speak for the AA battery sled, I've just kept that as an emergency reserve item but your experience makes a test worthwhile
