50p DVCPRO HD codecs

I'm wondering a bit about the 50p version of the 720p codec. To date no product has used this codec, only DVCPRO HD 1080/25p has been utilizized. And I havent found any info anywhere on the specs. All whitepapers mentions three DVCPRO HD codecs:
720/60p
1080/60i
1080/50i

So what will Panasonic implement for the DVX200e?

The 1080/60i codec is 1280x1080 at 30P and has a bitrate of 100 mbps (6.7:1 compression)
In the 1080/50i codec, to keep the 100 mbps and the 6.7:1 compression at the lower framerate of 25p, Panasonic raises the horisontal resolution to 1440 pixels.

The 720/60p codec is 960x720 at 60p using the 100mbps bitrate

So the question is what will 720/50p be:
- will it be 1280x720 to keep the the bitrate at 100 mbps (most likely)
- Or is the compression lowered to 5.58:1 (HVX-200e pdf specs says 6.7:1 compression in HD)
- Or is the bitrate lowered to 83.3 mbps (HVX-200e pdf specs says 50p at 100 mbps)

Does anyone have info about this?

Well, since it isn't moved yet ...:) I hope there's some sort of advantage on going 50P over 60P, as well as 25P, if not just to make the Pal machines feel less stripped down from the Ntsc model... I mean, almost 30% more expensive and less functionality??

I'm just a bit worried if Apple will update quicktime in time with a 720p50 codec.
I should receive my hvx-200e around the 20'th and would hate to be shooting in 1080p25 only...

Me too, Anders, me too... But there's 720p25 compatibility, if I'm not wrong. Its not an easy preset. You just go to the sequence settings and change it to 25p. However, no 50p support as off yet... So no Reality show video footage in 50 progressive frames...

Yes but if you make a 720p25 sequence in FCP, you are still using the 720p60 codec. This codec cannot be the one used in the HVX-200e, as the 720p50 would then be 83.333 mbps and not 100 mbps as the HVX-200e specs says.
