$500 rebate and under Manufacturers minimum list price? 170a?

I know some of you guys will probably tell me this happens all the time but I don't get to purchase new gear very often and I really have to check every last possible question before investing in something new because I don't have the same kind of income as I used to and will be stuck with what i choose for quite a while.

So I see places selling it under the min. list price and a Panasonic giving a $500 rebate, does this mean that something new is on the way? Any rumors floating around about a 170a, what that would include or anything of the sort? Maybe a 170 with removable lenses like the ex3 is to the ex1? I need a new camera before next month but if a 170a was coming out in a few months and it was worth the wait I'd buy a used dvx, use it for that time and resell it when the 170a is out. I'd love a dedicated iris ring myself....

No news at all on any new 170.

It's the economy stupid to quote a phrase. :)

Confirm it's a Panasonic authorized seller, and you are good.
 
the $500 rebate was suppose to end in Sept. but its been extended to Dec. 31st. I don't see anything new on the horizon yet.

Maybe in 2 years time we will see an HPX170A 1/3" CMOS that does AVC-INTRA.
