50/25p FCP

Hi

Ref FCP

IM trying to do some slomo having milmed at 25 and 50p

I read some where 'just retime on the timeline' ie change speed 'no blending' or whatever

that does not work gets jumpy footage.

Im now doing it in compressor, looks like an overnighter

So is there a good workflow, maybe ustilising Mpeg streamclip

for fast and proper 50/25 ?

Also Im not sure how to tell which clips are what speed - what I did was shoot my slomo section on a sperate card - is there another way??

Hi there morgan use cinematools to batch conform your 50p clips to 25p it should take a few seconds. However, once you change your clips to 25p they stay that way ie 50% slomo. However, I dont know why anyone would want that awful hyper reality 50p look! Hope that helps

If you want to preserve the original footage just make a duplicate of it and then use cinema tools like sam mentioned. Everytime I use cinema tools to conform for slo-mo it works perfect.

Morgan I think he means 50p when not conformed for slo-mo looks hyper-realistic.

You have the Final Cut Suite correct? There is an application called cinema tools that allows you to conform footage to various frame rates in a matter of seconds.

Basically you open the clip with cinema tools and there should be an option in the window that says "conform". It'll then show you the current frame rate and give you an option to switch it to 25p, 24p, 23.98 etc.

I don't have it on my work laptop, otherwise I'd include some screen grabs.

BTW compressor up pitches the sound if you have hours
