this is a test spot for my production. it's still a work in progress. if you've seen my morphed slow motion clip you'll recognize that footage :)

once i complete more i should have a trailer ready and it will basically follow the theme of this spot.

5 Days

yeh the trailer didnt really tell me what its about...maybe i'm hard headed :) lemi go watch it again. ALso the shot with the guy holding the gun to the other guy's head is pretty noisy/grainy(look on the gun) and there's alot of light in that scene so i;m wonderng wh its so grainy. Even in the low ligh shots there isnt so much grain as that. Did u add that grain?

so i watched it again...i duno...some1 has 5days to make a decision?? i'm grasping here. I guess u are hinting stuff but maybe u need to spell it out a little more, of course without telling the whole nine yards. also the audio isnt so good...hissing and i cant hear some of whats said (the 2shot with the cop). What kinda mic were u using? i'm no audio man but that can be cleaned up in post right?

I like the look of the blue night shots.

if you don't mind what did you get out of it?

if I knew what I didn't get out of it, then I would of got it... I didn't know what it was so I didn't get it....hope that makes scents

but the image looked pretty nice. I liked the blue night scene as well

all the blue was in post that stuff was shot during the day. matter of fact don't know if you can see it, but in the dj shot on the wall in the background - that's a window, not a light. okay technically that is light

i have no idea why it's so grainy. i didn't add it granted i sharpened it, but i saw the grain before i sharpened it and couldn't figure out why it was like that considering it was a daytime shot. so you're exactly right because there's practically no grain in most of the interior shots and yet outside in broad daylight i get grain??? weird. as for the audio that's my fault i didn't even mess with it. but it was recorded with an external boom. however i didn't really mess with the audio mix i have that whole scene here on this board, but here ya go if you want to see...however i didn't tweak the audio on it either just an edit to see how the scene flowed. i plan on some ADR once i get to that part of the production. as for the 5 days you are definitely on the right track. once it's finished and you see the actual trailer you'll get it.

Scene 117-119

i understand what you mean. of course i get what's going on i wrote it :) funny thing is when i first wrote the script several days later i realized i made a huge error. i failed to have other characters mention the other characters names. so anyone watching it would never know who was who...so that was my first rewrite :D so for this spot i hear ya and while i am trying to leave much out to make people wonder what's going on it can be too confusing trying to figure out what exactly is going on...so thank you that's the whole reason i posted trying to get insights and fix things...much appreciated.

Sorry but it made absolutely zero sense. couchpotatoes, violence in the desert, chick in a store???

as I said, sorry but . . .

well i guess thats why he needed feedback so as to better tell the story without telling it. It isnt the finished trailer as he said.

Whats wrong with the aspect ratio blackdogs? i only see one shot that the aspect ratio..well the framing is really off. The shot where the girls get up from a table.

What time of day did you shoot those blue scenes Novelt?

blackdogs377:

aspect ratio? if you mean the 720x302 i'm framing it for an uprez when we show it at the local theater. it'll be the correct aspect for the cinema screen. is that what you mean?

good recall :) one thing tho cuz i think everyone expects a little too much info. did anyone see the original spot for star trek? just a shot of the ship being built. any non-fan would see that and have no idea what it's about. all you see is pieces of what may be a ship in space. granted star trek is a huge franchise, but any non-fan would have no idea what the movie was about. matter of fact that trailer is still up it's trailer 1..just watch it you have no idea what the movie is about. if the feature was a reflection of the trailer then you'd assume that the entire feature was about the ship being built. so while i understand your displeasure with not enough info...that's the point :) you don't give the story away in the trailer and definitely not in a 30-second teaser.

now i need to go back and look at that clip of the girls and readjust the area. i didn't even look to see if their heads got cut-off, but at the same time i'm trying not to show certain people. the blue scenes were shot between one and three in the afternoon inside a local high school gym. there are a row of windows along the front and back wall so that was some light. we had some of the gym lights on i'll post a couple of unedited stills so you can see what i mean when i get back home. the actual lighting are worklights covered with blue and red "gels" that's one of the many scenes i'll be re-shooting. the idea worked, but i need more people. it's supposed to be a rave. for the blue i used the color balance and levels filters in premiere. granted that's how it's done, but when i saw the before and after shots from the movie "Troy" with brad pitt i was amazed. they had turned a brightly lit in studio shot into an dark exterior night scene all with a CG full moon :) as for the desert scene i am going to try and recreate the look of "pitch black" now they actaully bleached the film so i am trying to figure out how to recreate that cuz i can't bleach my hard drive  any ideas?

here are the before and afters
