4th frame dupped?

i shot some test shots with the h1 hooked up to a fs4prohd(without the new quicktime firmware). i shot in hdv at 24f mode. it made m2t files that i turned into quicktimes via mpeg stream clip. i imported them into fcp 5.1.1 and it seems that every 4th frame is duplicated. am i doing something wrong with this? any suggestions? thanks so much.

not sure how the canon handles "frames", but I believe the 24pA pulldown doubles every 4th frame. Try capturing a small clip with the "remove Advanced pulldown" setting and see what happens.

i dont really have a clip to capture, it was recorded directly to disk using the firestore. isnt there a way to remove pulldown using cinema tools? but i think it might be the lack of me not having fcp 5.2 as i hear it works very well with canon's 24f.

24pA is a field ratio of 2:3:3:2. This makes for easier extraction than regular 2:3 pulldown since each progressive frame as two adjacent fields to itself unlike regular 24p where fields from every other frame have to be extracted from a split frame. Rather, in 24pA, the third frame, the split frame, is just dropped with no extraction neccesary. This was how the XL2 worked and I'm pretty sure is how 24f encodes as well.
