4K Still Photo Mode and Time Lapse - please?

maybe this has been talked about already. but if you wanted to use RED as a still camera, and since the newest design is all modular, maybe there is a way to take out the recording sections of the camera and make the camera much smaller, and made to take still photos, just using the front end and the sensor and maybe a little flash memory thing for the photos. obviously its more complicated than this but has anyone mentioned something like this already?

i cant believe nobody replied to this. maybe because the thread was old when i posted?

also when i posted that, it was before the new design/red website. but is there still hope for something like this?

From reading the various posts i think the idea behind red was to provide a 11m pixel still photo straight from the camera without having to extract it in post. In an ENG situation you get a good footage of video. You sell the footage and you extract the still photos in camera and sell them too. More money without trying to do the impossible and use a camera and video at the same time!

Maybe someone from red could update us on that one, there has been little mention of still use lately but they are busy guys right now.
