Hi red team, I've had to ban myself from this site. It consumed to much of my time, stealing attention from the screenplay(I'm working on) I want to shoot with the Red One when I recieve it. Since it's a special week, I can't help but endulge myself and celebrate with all of you. I've been catching up and alot of your inputs are helping me plan out my workflow- I thank all of you. I am finishing up film school at LACC so I'm still learning a lot. I think I will want to shoot 4k scaled to 2k because of it's higher sampling, I learned that here. I was wondering if it would simplify things significantly if I shot 4k scaled to 1080p. If it's possible, I assume the oversamplying and better picture would still apply. Would the space saved be significant, I want film out. Would staying 1080p significantly decrease my post production expenses. Would it increase my film out expenses. I was reading a bit about the Silicon Grafics work flow, the 4 hours of 1080 p compressed 5:1 on a swapable 160 gig hard drive. Is that similar to the function of the Red Raid ( a hard drive) pardon my ignorance. Would that translate to 45 minutes or so of uncompressed 1080p on a 160 hard drive, if that were to be available.
I wish I was in Amsterdam, but look forward to the Southern California showing.
thank you,
