4k bmpcc

But they haven't listed the native ISO's, they're just saying they have dual native and it goes up to 25,600... Lotsa room for disappointment in that box.

Would definitely like to know the other base ISO.
What I do like with a dual ISO cam, is that generally spells greater latitude.
Hopefully we can get away from some of the artifacting of the past.
Underexposure has been "a big bugaboo for BM". (try saying that 5 times fast)
However, my great concern with the above chart is that there is just not enough dynamic headroom in the high end.
Which means easy burnout and unrecoverable highlights.

Raw, compressed raw, prores, future codec able, 13 stops DR, dual iso, a copy of resolve, 5" 1920x 1080 touchscreen , cheap recording option, 2 card recording options, $1299 price. C'mon.

AWESOME FEATURE SET
And I'll add: m43 sensor (the sensor size is what was bothering me before, when somebody wrote that it was going to be s16)

If the DR is as good as in the original BMPCC, and no other defects become apparent (like a noisy fan or something like that), I think I'm getting one.

I have questions/concerns about the upward facing vent slots.

I think they are cooling the area *behind* the sensor, not the front, if that's what's bothering you.

if it can do 4k 60p it should able to do 1080 240p or 1080 120p w/o crop.

That depends on the sensor design. Many sensors can skip rows but not columns, which leaves you in this case at 120fps.

It shoots raw: if you don't like the DR distribution, you can just rate it differently and get the distribution you like. I routinely overexpose my Sonys (log allows this too), you probably want to underexpose this one.

You never want to underexpose any BM camera...especially not with RAW (and because of any potential FPN issues).

Whenever I shoot with them I heavily ETTR and just drag everything back down.

The latitude with CinemaDNG is nuts.

The weight doesn't appear to be finalized yet as they will begin manufacturing them now.

Grant mentioned the ones at NAB are heavier than what the final product will be.

Too wide for any gimbal - can't see fun in this design

Screen doesn't flip I guess
No faith at all :2vrolijk_08:

That is mounted sideways - interesting- but no good on a two hand gimbal and hdmi to your (focus pullers) monitor will add width

I know, I usually overexpose the original pocket. But the chart in the previous page points to a different behavior on this camera, which can make sense because it's different tech and it goes to a different world in terms of ISO. Or maybe it's just a silly chart, no idea. We will know soon enough.

I can't imagine doing that in practice...these cameras always needed light, all non-specialty cameras perform better when you feed them light. Only scenario I ever underexpose is usually in daylight when the sun/light/scene contrast is so drastic and it's blowing out so much of an area that I would rather save some of that scene and try to bring the image up in post where applicable.

Looks very nice, and the price is impressive.

This should spur on some nice competition and also bolster the m43 market.

The big tells on this camera will be reliability, UI, and field reports.

IMO, Blackmagics have the best touchscreen/menus in the world.

The layout and access to all of the options is far superior to anything I've ever used (I do like RED's upper and lower bars too though).

I always loved this about BM since the BMCC's very simple menu with only several options.
