4GB & 8GB Workflow with P2 Store

Hey Guys,

Quick question for all you P2 Store owners. Can you dump a 4GB card to the P2 Store then turn around and dump a 8GB Card? Is there any special modes that the P2 Store needs to be in order to use both sizes of cards?


We have a concert tomorrow, Feb 13 and I need to make sure that I won't mess up our P2 Store by dumping 4GB & 8GB cards together.

Some additional info you might find helpful: the 60GB P2 store is fifteen 4GB sections. When you load a 4GB card with any amount of data on it, it consumes all of a 4GB section. An 8GB card automatically tags two 4GB sections when you insert it even if it has one small clip on it.
Because of this it is especially important to format the P2 Store and check to make sure it's empty prior to shooting.

On our first shoot with the P2 we couldn't figure out why the drive was full after loading just a few shots on a couple of 8GB cards . We didn't take into account that you can only load an 8GB card onto the P2 seven times before it reads as full.
