40 shutter speed looks good

50 shutter in pulled down 24p looks strobe-ish and bad in general, imo 40 looks great and filmic. Anyone else?

I use 60 most of the time and 30 when I need some more light and don't have a lot of movement. I avoid 50 due to light flickering, etc.

no problems with 50, you must be shooting under flouresents. why shoot at anything but a multiple of 24? 60 would give you a 3-2-2 shutter pattern, seems rather odd.

I try not to risk 50 since I do a lot of available light shooting and you might not notice flickering until you look at the footage. On a controlled set I've done 50 with no problems. In any case, 1/60th is totally fine, it doesn't need to be a multiple of 24, that's not how shutter speed works, it's done per-frame not per-second. Each frame gets a 1/60th of a second exposure, and you get 24 of those per second, which looks just fine, there's no pattern or anything. I think you're getting that confused with converting 60 FPS to 24 FPS. This is not how shutter speed works.

And what's more, the shutter speed isn't adjustable to 1/48 for 24 fps or would that be 1/47.952... so, the nearest available setting would be 1/50, but then 144 deg shutter angle is equivalent to 1/60 at 24 fps...

Which is not an 'unknown' shutter angle... and what what's more, my meter doesn't have 1/50 anyway...
