$375 for GH1 with LUMIX G VARIO 14-42mm Lens w/ Panasonic EPP !

I'm surprised that Panny is still manufacturing new GH1 units. I don't expect mine to be hackable either. Other than being unhackable, it's the best GH1 production without the weak body strap issue. Try to test out high ISO performance in low lighting. Some said unhackable units has much less FPN issue.

Charging the battery right now. I'm still at work as well so I may not be able to test much until I get home. I do work for a production company so at least my toys fall under the "research" category.

You mean the strap lugs? Careful, my first GH1...one of the very early models (pre-ordered long before release)...still has rock solid strap lugs...and I actually use a strap on it sometimes. The GH1 I bought more recently had loose lugs right out of the box. :D

I haven't noticed FPN issues on either model...at least not with properly exposed scenes...but I'm sure others here could find tons of it in my videos. The video looks so much better than any camera even remotely in it's price range...mud and all, especially considering it's a consumer camera, so I guess I just don't look hard enough.

BTW, if anyone is still hung up on the hackable units, my offer still stands....I'll trade a hackable GH1 and a non-hackable GH1 for two new-in-box GH2 bodies. ;)

It's through facebook. And I have one sitting in checkout and it is $378.98, including tax, plus shipping.

Are you on the page where you enter your payment info? Or, do you have that I believe it is the 'EPP' plan?

Just got 14-42mm. Yeap the cheap plastic mount. Cheap cheap cheap all over it. Feels like my kid's toy. Super light. Only 0.4 lb. 52mm filter thread is metal. Quality is worse than my friend's NEX5 kit zoom. I'm so used to FD and Ai-s lenses. 20mm pancake feels so much more solid next to it. Smooth focus and zoom rings. Hopefully this fragile toy lens lasts until I get the rumored 12-50mm.

On the page where I would enter my credit card info, $412.92 with tax added. I'm tempted, even though I have absolutely no reason to get another GH1 and I want a GH2. I definitely have video electronics addiction! And it's through the facebook membership.

I'm still not getting it. I get the 375 in my cart all the way up until I go to the 'payment' page, then it jumps to 548. What browser are you using and are you on a mac or pc?

So far I have to say I do like the camera overall. I find the low light to be pretty bad compared to even my HMC40 which is known to be pretty bad in low light. at 100 ISO and 0 DB gain for each camera the GH1 is a bit more sensitive but it does quickly fall apart with higher ISO's. At 800 and 1600 ISO I get a lot of vertical and horizontal lines. The HMC40 on the other hand can go up to 12 DB and still look very clean. This is one area where I'm sure a GH2 would be a much better camera with or without a hack. I'm sure a faster lens will help a bit but I was really expecting night and day results. This camera's main purpose however is for stills which so far I have found to be very good. The video is highly detailed (when there is enough light) and seems like it will be a good match to my HMC40 in 720p mode. The 24p mode isn't as bad as I feared and removing the pulldown is annoying but fairly easy.

lake films - use somene elses computer and if that doesn´t work , use someone elses credit card , but you´ll have to reregister them in face book and club pany- sorry you´re having trouble

I'm on a PC and I can do it with either IE or Firefox. You should probably try the suggestion to use someone else's PC.

Any chance we could see a hack for these models?

I've been tempted to pull the trigger for a few days now, but as my only camera I'm considering just going for a used hackable GH1 at nearly twice the price.

Just got mine today. It has very obvious banding issues. Really disappointed right now.

So is the banding only at certain ISO's and low light? Or is it obvious all the time? I just ordered one myself and hope not to get a bad model but maybe that's why these things are so cheap.

well it should be real clean at iso 100 at least - maybe these are returns - truthfully for 4bills , it will still be worth it - if it´s real bad , send it to repair - these still have warranty - and whether they will be hackable should not be depended on - and with the gh2 soooo cheap thru the same facebook method , I´d much prefer a gh2 at 780 rather than a gh13 at 6 o 7 - if you want a gh13 , wait until the gh3 is released - they will be very cheap then ( less than 3bills is my guess )- this will tide me over just fine in the pany camp until they release the 12-50 as a kit - and this really helps me wait for the a77 or nex 7 which are sounding better everyday - I mean when was a large sensor hybrid camera available for less than 4 bills ? .......never before

ohhhh ...at 1600 ........ normal from what I´ve read

It's fine at lower ISO. I didn't get any banding in my G10 (except for in video mode) even at 3200.

I just placed an order for the deal at $375 through Facebook.

Originally I was having the same problem as you, Lake Films, with it showing as $375, then jumping back up to $499 at the payment page.

For me, I had previously registered an account there without the Facebook link and without an EPP account. I was still trying to use that account.

What I did instead was click through with the Facebook link, add the package to the cart, checkout and when it asked me to log in, I clicked Sign Up instead. I registered through that, and when it completed the registration, I could go through with the $375 price.

I've given them my credit card info, and have an order confirmation number now, but it's been over an hour and I haven't received an order confirmation email... Still crossing my fingers on this one.

Edit:
I spoke with the customer support and my order went through, but the body is back ordered till February. I should probably get the lens in a week or so though...
