35mm adapter rig photos

And how do you focus? With your mouth? :)

Just kidding, but how do you set it up? Or do you have enough space? It looks like it would be very close.

I too would like to see some samples!

Do you have some footage we can see from your rig? How do you handle audio with that setup?

Dan

Hi Dan,

I don't have footage to show at this time because all my films are copyright protected by the Portuguese Author Society. We have to, as is part of the contract you make with the Portuguese ICA - Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual (Cinema and Audiovisual Institute).

I'm planing to do some shots to post though, just to show the potential of this configuration. I'll do that when I have some more spare time, which is difficult right now. I'm going to start shooting a new Doc this summer with this setup. I will post some not used shots.

About Audio. I've planned to buy a HV30 to match my XH-A1 as a B Role camera but unfortunately the HV30 doesn't have a LANC terminal which was very important to me. Why? Because I have a small box which converts the LANC Time Code to LTC Time Code. I then output the Sony's TC via BNC/XLR cable to my Sound Director's Tascam HD-P2.

All the files become in instant sync with no hassles. Just import the files to FCP, match TC from Audio and Video and you're done! Is that easy :)

Unfortunetely, this wonderfull small box has issues with XH-A1 cameras :( The developer said that he's finding a way to overcome this and I hope he does so.

Hi USLatin,

:) Yes, the FF unit sits close to my face but it doesn't bother me. I normally use it with 9" rods handle extensions and the monitor sits much lower, so it stays in a place that's easy to see and I find preferring the FF unit closer than all setup up front unbalancing the whole rig.

I've tried to attach the FF unit on the right side of the system but I found that more unstable to handle the rig with my left hand and focus with the right.

About footage, see my previous answer to Dan.

Not bad, I would love to see a picture of the rig setup with the monitor and all on the shoulder in action.

Will do as soon as I receive my monitor which is returned due to a defective display.

I will take a picture with it connected to the Tascam recorder as well.

Cheers

What rail system is that that is red? What about the handle grips with a shoulder mount that is blue? Those are nice looking rails/mounts... any more details you can offer or links to sites where a possible sale can be made?

thanks.

This photos are with GG.Relay Rev1 and Bravis on Varicam, there is no flip because Varicam has a function called "scan reverse" that is inverting the image electronically. On the two shots the camera is in low mode... The lenses used are the ARRI HS MKIII.

The weight of the relay along with the Brevis with no lens is about half a kilo, so its quite lightweight...

The new GG.relay Rev2 on that setup is on the same size. With flip is much shorter about 6 - 7 cm long

A still from Rev2 relay with Fiber on brevis...

And a still from the shooting that the camera is in low mode with the Rev1 GG.relay and CFX GG from Cinevate.

Looks nice but what are the repeating lines in the right side bokeh behind the child's head? Was there something there that looked that way or was this Photoshop? I get that look when I am clone brushing an item and don't re-stamp the BG in a different place.

Just curious what causes those lines.

Thanks,

Dan

The shoot is in a playground that has a fence around that it is consist from vertical, painted coral, metal bars... like a prison... so when they are out of focus they are looking like that... no photoshop... sorry... we do our playgrounds like that because lately we loosing our children because the stiling them... So we want to be like that, with one exit, in order to be in control to who gets in and who gets out...

He is my little son... Constantine 2.5 years old...

Is the Pro35 really worth the extra cost for people that want to use Cine lenses compared to getting one of the other adapters with a PL mount? Or is it just a name brand thing?
