Just to make a point ... I recently had bought 2 SWIT 1080 BS Monitors ... and was kinda happy ... full RGB input and nice picture .... cost ... including V-lock chargers and battery ... close to 2000 Euro A PIECE ! ... yesterday I passed a local store and picked up a Sony DVP-FX810 Portable DVD player with 8" Widescreen LCD ...
It has a composite Video Output and INPUT.

Now ... in all honesty ... I am a "Professional" but have to say that this beautifully designed TOY with a swivel around LCD screen and georgous battery is fun! and easier to handle then my bulky overloaded battery unbalanced PRO stuff!

I might just send the PRO units back and be happy with my "CONSUMER" non HD big 8" DVD portable player-LCD! It saves me over 3650 Euro !

And to frame something while walking around with my Smoothshooter/Glidecam ... it does perfectly the job ...

I might just buy two return tickets to New-Zealand holiday and shoot some georgeous footage!

Just some thoughts ...
 
This sounds iteresting,
but how high is the resolution of this toy?
Is there any effort to use it for focusing, or is it like looking on the built in lcd?
Any numbers?

I wouldn't trust it for focussing. But for framing they should be okay. I guess if the focus assist works with the video out you could try. But you can't expect a substitute from these little ones.
Besides, pro gear is always more difficult to work with. Wich is good; otherwise everybody could work them. lol
