Hello DVXUser community :)
After few shorts made for dvxfests I had a "little" pause and didn't manage to finish any projects.
I finally managed to finish a short and would appreciate feedback from you guys.
I submited it to the Ridley Scott youtube contest.

Shot with 5dm2, lenses used: 100 2.8, 24-70 2.8, fisheye 2.8 & 70-200 2.8

I thought this was great. The visuals were great, the drawings at the front end worked well, and that newspaper on the ground was all the explanation you needed.

This was awesome! Great story. I had no idea where it was going until towards the end and I was still like, "wow." Great setup with the backstory and your cinematography was excellent. It would have been nice to see the train shots locked on a tripod, but no biggie. Great work and I'm honored that you used a clip from my film and put me in the credits! I got such a kick out of that. Thanks, man and good luck with it.

I too liked it.

And you have to admit, it our the "small" sounds (the sounds that nobody thinks about) which makes it more "alive". :-p

Thanks guys, we are really satisfied with this project, something could be done better if we had any budget, but all in all, the whole crew is proud of it and that's a first :)

@dre83
Yep, foley, no sounds recorded at all during shooting.

@marlon
Marlon, thanks for your support :)
How's your project coming along?

It's good there's added some "room, reverb" to the Foley sounds to make it fit" and they're good in sync also.

Anytime, man. Bad To The Jones is done for the most part. Only a few minor things to do with the sound and it a wrap!
Looking forward to seeing it :)

I'll add some technical details.
We shot everything with 5dm2, 4-70 2.8, 100 2.8, 70-200 2.8 and fisheye 2.8 (only for the peephole shot).
Almost all indoor shots were done during night. We used a 1000w softboxed light through the window from the balcony and moved it around to make it look like it's a different time of day.

Newspapers are printed on a regular A4 office paper with an inkjet printer and stapled together. Then we went outside and kicked them around in dirt. :)
We had problems finding locations that looked abandoned and we had a "fail day" of shooting, so the next day we went there at 3-4am and waited for dawn.

In the fridge on the top shelf you can see 30 bottles of salad dressing which we got on a promotion when we bought 30 cans of beans. :)
