here's a clip shot at 30db in very minimal light. this was at midnight and the only nearby light source was a streetlight about 30 feet away. this was shot with a 50mm f1.8.

below are grabs of the original, ungraded clip and the same clip with the neat video plugin applied.

i'm amazed at how clean this is, even before the plugin. not to mention the color reproduction at this high gain setting. my eyes didn't even come close to seeing this color and detail.

here is the footage in prores 422 format.

cleaned with neat video

Well I'm sure nasa has something a bit more sophisicated than the F3 sensor. ;)

But yes. Its insaaaaane.

That certainly is AVCHD, just exported as proress

Yup, that was recorded internally and converted to prores using the log and transfer ingest in final cut. I am getting an external recorder but haven't decided which one yet....

Very impressive. Was it pitch black out?

Not pitch black. This is on a street with traffic and street lights. But it was in a poorly lit area and I couldn't see 75% of what the camera saw with my naked eye.

The nanoflash is awesome. @100mbps 422 intra, you should be getting spectacular results.

Wow, that is amazing how much NV cleaned that up. What I like about the noise is it is so much more grain like to me. As opposed to noise with chroma components that I don't feel cleans as well.

Agreed.

I can live with "grain-like" noise but blue, red and green flakes... not so much.

for sure. i would take that 30db look as-is any day of the week. it's just nice to know that if you shoot a show clean, then have to cut in some 30db stuff, that it cleans to perfection with a little NV.

How aggressive were you with NV? I'm curious how it will handle some images with fine detail in them with noise. Testing shall ensue shortly on my end :)

Now where did i leave my Super Farron 76mm F/0.87 and Canon 50mm F/0.75.... hehe.
Is there an option to go beyond 30db? I bet it would be usable too with some noise reduction.

Nightvision anyone?
