ALL: $300 rebate on AC130A and AC160A

[Barry_Green]

Not sure if this is old news or not, but when checking the Panasonic site for NAB press releases, I saw they had a banner advertising that there is now an "instant rebate" of $300 on the AC160A and AC130A, through June 28th. http://www.panasonic.com/business/p...cm_sp=PSC-Web-Site-_-Provideo-Banner-_-AC160A

That is another $300 off on top of the street prices for these camcorders, which combine to make them dramatically lower than their MSRP.

For example, MSRP list price for the AG-AC130A in the USA is $4,130. But B&H Photo has it for sale for only $3,295 currently. Add the $300 rebate to that, and your final cost for the camcorder is down to only $2,995

That works out to a 27.5% discount off of list price.

but I bet not down here in NZ!

do you know that is what really gets to me as a customer of Panasonic, and that is why USA gets all the discounts from this Japanese manufacturer when NZ is probbaly closer to the manufacturing source?
volume and units potential I guess!!

But I must add that although we pay top dollar down here, The 160A is still the best value for money camera on the market in my opinion and the more I explore its capabilities the more I love it. In fact I am now pondering on whether to buy another one when funds permit, or go for the AF102 as a perfect complimentary camera with the added 4/3 versatility. (my heart and head say AF102)
Cheers!

BH hasn't updated their site to reflect this- hopefully soon though as I need to pick one shortly.

I just checked with my authorised dealer here in NZ and the current 160A price is $7584 nz-=$6460 US. Inc 15%tax. Boy do we feel the pain down here!!

But the NZ dollar is at an all time high against the US dollar and the UK pound which is hurting across the board on just about everything .

The $3295 IS with the $300 savings applied. 2 weeks ago it was $3295 BEFORE the promotion- but now they raised their price up to $3595 to compensate- so they're pocketing the rebate. Still the best price right now, but 2 weeks ago it was $2995
