3 minute Horror Short

This was originally created for a horror contest in which we didn't place. Oh well life goes on still proud of it for a quick 4 hour shoot with only a 7d, loupe, and a tamron 17-50mm.

I hope you enjoy. CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is always welcomed, if you hated it move on don't waste your time with a bunch of negativity. Looking for feedback to improve as always though. Thanks.

I think it looked really nice.

I wish there was more of a story, as you could probably have told what you have in here in 15 seconds. I know the goal of the contest was to make it short, but you can do a lot in three minutes. This didn't really have munch of a payoff or "punchline" if you will.

Thanks I appreciate your comments. I agree we might have been able to do more in the same time. Not trying to take the blame off of me or anything, but my friend was the one who wrote the script. I shot, edited, and graded the footage. Thanks for watching!

i agree with the comment above, video looks great color grading and lighting, but you can't expect to come jump out of the gate as a scorsese or gondry, you will get better in due time man, we all will.

I thought it looked pretty good.

But, and this is meant to be constructive, but your emphasis on constructive criticism, makes it seem like you will deem what is appropriate. People give feedback all the time, you may or may not agree. But the way you said it didn't make it seem like you are open to feedback. So what if someone hates it, hopefully, the person says "I acknowledge you for completing a short, it didn't work for me for these reasons, but good job on getting something done." But not all people speak that way, but that doesn't mean their comments are not valuable. I don't know if you see what I am trying to get at. Not liking your short does not mean negativity.

Life is constantly giving me feedback, I may not agree with what is being told to me, but there may be something there if I choose to listen. It is like that expression "Everyone I meet is my teacher." I get the anonymous nature of the internet makes it possible for people just to be mean for fun. But, I think everyone who is an artist, or creative type gets how hard it is make art and how it is hard not to take some comments personally. People on this board seem pretty supportive. I am trying to be supportive here as well.

Personally, I liked it from a visual perspective but I am not sure if there was a story there.

For a short video you need some kind of a story, but nothing "deep" as in a major movie/full lenght feature. But I think what's missing is at least some hints why he killed what it appear to be his father. Other than this, keep it short, simple and it usually works well.
On the technical aspect, it was pretty good: lighting, sound, camera movements/framing. Great job.

Thanks for the comments. It was went to be kind of open and left for the viewer to decide. I guess it could have benefited from maybe something like his dad beating him or being a drunk and hitting his mom or something, but we were just trying to hint at that there was skeletons in the closet and the main character had been thinking about it for a while and had pent up anger against his father
