My media group offers a variety of services to music artists and recently began to do music videos. We picked up two Canon t3i's, an ebay 3 piece continuous cfl light kit, and already have a white/black backdrop set up. I am a photographer and therefore have a little head start when it comes to lighting and composition but I know there's so much more when it come to putting together and delivering an interesting high energy video that people will actually want to watch. I know many of you here are very experienced in this process therefore I would like to ask you... is there anything that we should have done but have neglected to do? (Lighting, camera movement, transitions, etc.) We did a good amount of research on the "need to knows" for shooting video but any feedback/comments/critiques are more than welcome and would be much appreciated.:cheesy:

I really liked the cuts, b-roll, and the monotone scenes.

Personally I'd have darkened the poker table scene. In that sort of vid, unless the location is really nice, it would have went better with the cool mono type shots. It would have added to the cool attitude of the rest of the vid but for me it just seemed a bit anti-cool.

Does that make any sense whatsoever? lol

Still gets a thumbs up :)

Thanks! And I believe I see what you're saying. Some kind of spotlight on the subject would have created a strong highlight area and the unnecessary background detail would have been a lot darker. It's funny because while we were setting up we entertained the idea of using less fill light but decided against it to retain all the detail. I guess it would come down to preference in the end but your idea would definitely give it more of a dramatic look. And the mono type shots would be perfect with that type of lighting. You brought up a good point/idea that I didn't even think of on set so thank you very much for your feedback! I'm definitely going to try incorporating that into one of our future videos.
