2000 posts.

Well eveyone, I've hit another 'milestone', this one really snuck up on me too.

Now I didn't have anything for 1k but I promised something for 2k. I allready did the interview/bio thingy for a 1year video, so this will be a little different.

First a bit of backstory:

Back in 1999 when I was a Sophmore in High School, I had only just started doing video production. With about 4 monthes experience I was definatly a 'noob. But I took it upon myself to make a (feature lenth of course) movie as a large school project over the period of about 3 monthes.
I wrote the story, and then the script - which at a whopping 13 pages was well too short, but what did I know?
I took the video club's selection of a couple of MiniDV and Hi8 cameras, and a tripod and went to work. Mostly shooting on a Canon L1, with no support other than a tripod and my hand. I had no lighting gear, audio was limited to a couple of mics, and sets were non exsistant. In fact almost all of this film was shot on location with very little dressing of any sorts.
All editing, save some sparks (you'll see), was done linearly using Hi8 decks feeding to a VHS edit master, without any editing controller - EVERYTHING was manually done. Mixed in was music and sound effects from CD, graphics from a DataVideo SE-200 and powerpoint, and even a shot done live right to the edit master!

Like any good High School project I got the thing done at the last minute, and by that I mean that I pulled tape out of the edit bay and walked (ran) upstairs to a viewing ceremony where I stuck the still warm tape in and saw my completed masterpeice for the first time with about 100 fellow students. I managed to get an 'A' for the class.

This is the first time the video has been posted on the internet. I apologize in advance for a few copyright infringements, and to my friends (the actors/actresses) who don't know I'm posting this. And would like to thank all involved with the project.

Without further ado, I present my 2000th post video...
An 18 minute amature short: "Y2K"

Enjoy! :)

Sounds an awful lot like my first project the way you describe it, but boy, yours is alot better!

(Mine was in 1986--almost when yours opens :D)

Dude, were you on the plane while they were vacuuming up? :grin:

Whew! They made it, that was too funny Mikko.

- TC... congratulating Mikko on 2,000 posts.

That was great! And, other than the lighting and newspaper headlines not matching the color of the newspaper :), it wasn't bad for a High School video. But I'm a little shocked at the age of some of our air traffic controllers and airport employees. Shouldn't the FAA screen these people better? :)

- PK - Happy for Mikko's 2k post.

Oh sheesh guys, this thread is OLD :zombie_smiley: .. hell I've almost tripled my post-count since then.

That link even points to my old website...

... but alas, ask and you shall receive, it's re-uploading now... :)

Thanks.

Ok, there we go; uploaded (again).

The old link still works too again [hooray for domain forwarding].

And for some (very late) responses..
TC;
.. you'd be amazed at how many people commented about the "vacuum cleaner" - it's actually the sound of a Lear Jet from Microsoft Flight Simulator. ...Incidentally, the scenes in the cabin of the plane where actually taken in the 1st class section of an Alaska Airlines jet after it arrived to the airport after it's last flight of the day. Just about all those shorts where single takes, as the cleaning crew was waiting to chase us off!

PK;
I had no lighting equipment for that film, it's all ambient light (or lack of in some scenes!).
And yes, those newspaper headlines definitely rank pretty high on the "cheesy-o-meter".

And word from the FAA is that they are reviewing their hiring procedures.
