25p for GF1

Hey guys! Been browsing through the posts, and I've seen a lot of 24p action for the GH1 but no luck for the GF1...

So I was wondering how to shoot in PAL mode with the GF1 (since there was a new in-menu pal<>ntsc interchangeable feature for the GF13 ptool).

I couldn't seem to make it work, even with the card formatted...

Many thanks in advance!

you can change the setting in cam by going to setup and finding "video out" and choose pal...keep in mind that the gf1 does 50fps...if you want it to do native 25fps...then tick 50fps>25fps in "avchd FPS" in ptool .

I just found out that you have to turn the camera on and off twice before trying to take videos, it always say "no additional scenes selected" when trying to record. Now it's working perfectly fine!

Cheul, PAL 25p on the GF1 is very stable provided you don't over-do the bitrate settings. I was previously using the "C" settings and recently switched to Zhaoyun's 50FHD-36H-27L-54OB-45OB2-540PB2 AVCHD settings.

I'm averaging 35-45 Mbps on detailed scenes at 25fps. Stability is rock-solid and videos play back in-camera as long as you don't mess with the audio bitrate.

You're talking about native / in the box / from the body 25p, not the 25 fps in 50i container that you have to deinterlaced ?

By the way, is 25p close enough to 24p for filmic feel ?

Well, GH13 Stream Parser shows all my footage as 25fps.

And MediaInfo shows the following for a clip I just loaded...

Interesting that it shows is as NTSC and it shows original frame rate is 50.....don't know what to make of this.

The footage definitely does not look interlaced since when I freezeframe I do not see any offset scanlines like you would with an interlaced footage freezeframe.

gf1 footage is 25fps but in a 50p container which means that the camera does 25fps and duplicates each frame, the option 25p native in the hack eliminates the duplicated field, this saves space on the card other than that there is no difference in the look.

Ok I thought it was in a 50i container. But my question was : is 25p native stable on the GF1 ? Saving space on the memory card is a good enough reason to use it, but it has to be stable.

Like I said, I'm using Zhaoyun's 50FHD-36H-27L-54OB-45OB2-540PB2 AVCHD settings and they are stable, high bitrate in detailed scenes, playback in camera and work great in 25fps.

Here are the settings, I just noticed multi exposure mode is enabled but it does not mark the checkbox in PTool so disregard.

Yes, the GF1's 720p SH mode is stable whether you keep it in the original 50p container or use the patch to reduce the frame rate to 25p. SH mode is always progressive and is not afflicted with the encoding flaws that the GH1's FHD mode is subject to when patched to Native 24p/25p.

Since a PAL GF1's sensor only outputs 25p in SH mode, there's no loss in patching it to produce 25p videos.
