24P will be a software or hardware upgrade?

Hi
I am going to buy the 5DmarkII but I have this question:
the 24P (if it will come, in the end) will be a software or hardware upgrade?
It would be really annoying to buy a 5d and then Canon perhaps releases a 5dmarkII.1 :) with hardware changings supporting 24p.....

NO one who knows this is telling

This is the digital era, this years technology is this years technology, valuless next year or at least superceded

I would suggest that $300 per month for shooting the 5d is worth it even if it goes in the bin after 10 months - which it wont

The bin !

You are a richer man than me, when my 5DII becomes obsolete I am going to hollow it out and live in the carcass.

Since it already shoots at a higher framerate than the wanted 24p/25p, this should be doable via an altered firmware...

Rumor is that it will be a firmware update. There's a link somewhere in the 5dmkii section. I'll see if I can find it when I'm not browsing on my phone.

I've been told it's a firmware update. Apparently they have had some quality issues and it's still being tested.

Firmware update has basically been promised from known sources who've either directly worked with the updated camera or directly know individuals who have worked with the updated camera.
For this reason, it's really become more than just a rumor, it feels more like a guarantee from these people.
I had first seen confirmation from some people on Scarletuser.
Some people suggest that it will arrive as a firmware update if(when) Nikon updates the D3 and/or D700 FX cameras to have 1080 24p. Similar to how Canon updated it with manual control soon before the GH1 shipped.

24p firmware was tested in Iron Man 2 set, so it's already there. But I heard it has some quality issues.

I prefer 30p plus but more options is more better!

And do believe Canon will be launching an new and improved version of this sensor in a more traditional camcorder body that uses it's "35mm" camera lenses!

30P is so useful in Europe ... :(

Hey!

At least you got the metric system!!!
Yeah, why is USA still living in the stone age with their imperial units?

btw, flickering is problem everywere else than in north america, it's not just in Europe. Secam countries are using 50Hz electric current too.

I know right!

I think it's because we are hoping for an Imperial comeback of sorts so we can once again truly rule The World!

But you got to admit not only do you guys use the wrong electricity, some of you misfits and God Forsaken Countries are even driving on the wrong side of the ROAD!

Amazing.... such savagery!!!

In truth we need to start to fairly rapidly move towards global standards in these regards. It makes much more economic and social sense.
