Cavision .4x Fisheye Lens

I bought the century fisheye. Love it. NO vignetting and it's a bayonnet mount so that's awesome. Quick to set up.. Great image and all that. It's also not super fish so it can be used as a wide as well. I don't think I'll be buying a wide.. especially the century one. THe 16x9 superfish looks promising too. I got the century for less than 600 or so.

I'll post some footage with it when I get the chance. Been working 12 straight days and I have another 9 straight days before a day off again too

I shot some test footage with the 16x9 Inc. Super Fisheye lens yesterday. I haven't gotten a chance to look through and play with the footage, but here's a clip from the shoot. Overall, I'm very pleased with the results, especially since I didn't have to spend $2000+ for the Century Xtreme Fisheye.

Apart from the little vignetting in the upper left corner i think it looks really good. Thanks a lot man ! As soon as i got the money, I am placing an order !

Yeah, I didn't notice the vignetting while shooting, but I think I could fidel with it and screw it on a little better. Not sure if that will get rid of it but I may try a couple things. Also, I think my focus was off, so some of the clips aren't as sharp.

Here's another rough clip (Larger file 98MB):

FYI, I will be taking both of these clips down once a get a good edit done. And I'll post that

Footage looks good. Where are the break beats? I'm curious if you were able to remove the vignetting as the footage on the site has none. Also, is it possible to use a polariser with a fisheye lens? Anyone? Would really like to know, thanks

it is a screw-on so I suppose you can. The vignetting will be more significant probably, because the lense is further away. Distortion will also increase.

You could, but it would introduce some problems.

1. Most fisheyes do not have threads on the front, so you'd thread on the CPL filter first, to the cameras threads. It will create more vignetting because the fisheye is farther away from the camera.

2. Depeding on the weight of your new screw-on fisheye, attaching the fisheye could rip your CPL in half. Since the CPL is made of two parts already, it would be a weak link.

I have used a CPL filter on a GL2 using a Canon Semi-fisheye lens, without problems.

Thanks guys, I've got a slim Schneider c-pol, guess I'm screwed for either mounting this infront of a fisheye, or behind it as it has no threads in front (or next to none) . The
reason I need the combo was to capture some live painting on reflective surface when more than one artist was involved. Any wide angle adappters out there that you could screw a polariser in front?

I'd like to get that Century fisheye Justyn was talking about, but how does that work out with a matte box? Could have a lot of fun shooting some fish/wide stuff behind my 4x4 fx filter combos.

I used to have a baby death lense for my previous cam with a 37 mm lense. I used a UV filter as a spacer to create more distortion. It had thread in front and back. I guess if you search for a 82 mm version, you may find one.

Please don't do this!

The 82mm fisheyes weigh much more than the lil baby death. Using a UV as a spacer will put a ton of stress on its threads. Its a much heavier lens. Yikes!

I'm trying to get a few in for review at the magazine. It would be awesome to do a fisheye shootout!

Anyone have this Cavision .4x fisheye lens, ($435) and have any experience with it, or any pics or footage from it? And does it have any vignetting?
I'm thinking if I should eventually get that lens or the
Century .55x Super fisheye.

I just purchased the lens and we used it on a Kalai music video. I took it out last weekend and shot some skating with it. Solid lens. Sure beats dropping a smooth 2.5k on the century.

Here is the link to some shotty youtube footage . . .

which lens did you get teh 16x9? if so, you seem to gotten lucky with the ccd's, cuz you have no noticable vig.
what settings/framerate did you shoot that at, btw?
