24p Canon 5D Mark II, First Look. » cinema5D news

Here is a video from cameradepartment.tv showing the menu selection of the 5D Mark II with 24p, and 60p. It will also shoot 25p, and 50p for PAL users. No Firmware release date set yet, still waiting.

My HPX500 looks very sad!!!

I know he just linked to the main C5D site, but there actually is a video from the cameradepartment.tv presentation where some guy (I think he's from Canon but haven't had the chance to fully watch the vid) shows off the 24P option right on the 5DM2 camera:

EDIT: Yes, it is Tim Smith from Canon

EDIT: Link to youtube video (with proper time spot) of the actual firmware:

yes we've seen that, are you sure its 5d menu not 7d ?

Sorry if you've seen it. No, I am not sure ... for all we know it could just be a fake video that canon is putting up on the screen. I take no responsibility, I'm just posting ;)

The only unambiguous thing said by Tim Smith is that the 5DII will be getting 24p - the rest is guess work, his rambling talk is too ambiguous to read anything else into it with absolute certainty.

On first viewing I read what he said to mean: 'the 5D will get 24p like the other cameras . . after that point he might well just be rattling through the range of frame rates and frame sizes of the whole 4 camera range . . .

Hard to say from that video.

The screen shot might be from a 7D, Mark IV, a mock up . . . anything really, no one at any point says we are looking at a 5D menu - post firmware update.

Very typical Canon obfuscation when it comes to these kinds of things.

There's going to be a permanent upgrade coming for the 5D, which will add 24 frames to, to the camera itself. And we're expecting that, ah first half of next year. So you'll add um the 24 frame rate to the 5D and that will match the other three cameras which do 24, 29..um, 29, ah 30..and ah 60i..Ah also 720p as well as 1080 now, so you'll have 1080 and 20…ah 720, it'll be 60 frames per second 60p in 720 mode. So you gonna be a lot of choices in terms of frame rates

So why in a brief about the 5D firmware upgrade would he suddenly start talking in detail about the 7D and a 1D having 60p 720 NOW? these cameras already had these frame rates and everyone already knows what frame rates the 7D and 1D are... so to me it sounds like he's just talking about the 5D.

Wait... I am about to freaking sell my 5d because I need 60p... I will be so mad if 60p comes out for the 5d and I have sold it already. Also, why don't they fix the issue of it having 30p instead of 29.97p which is the standard for "true 30p?"
